FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
WHAT STYLE OF YOGA DO YOU TEACH?
I teach many styles of yoga: Hatha, Vinyasa, Power, Slow Flow, and Pre and Post Natal. However, all my instruction is Alignment-based regardless of "style."
WHAT IS "ALIGNMENT-BASED" YOGA?
Alignment-based yoga is rooted in the idea that when our skeletal system is properly aligned, our bodies, our minds and our emotions function better. Aligning your body in yoga poses helps you learn how to carry your body throughout your daily life with ease and peace. I use props, pose modification and detailed instructions on how to shape your bones and engage your muscles. Alignment is not about perfection, it’s about what works for each individual and their body.
WHERE DO YOU TEACH?
I currently teach at Shakti Yoga and Living Arts in Maplewood, NJ. It is a wonderfully welcoming studio, perfect for yogis of all levels. While my classes focus on alignment, there are a host of other yoga styles lead by amazing teachers to fit the needs of every body.
I also conduct in-home private lessons and on-site group sessions for schools, community organizations and corporations.
HOW DO I BOOK A SMALL GROUP YOGA CLASS?
I can teach a series of small group classes on-site (business, home, school) or at my personal home studio. Please send me an email to work out details.
WHAT DOES A PRIVATE YOGA SESSION ENTAIL AND HOW DO I SCHEDULE ONE?
Each private lesson is one hour. Before we begin a private session, or series of private lessons, we will chat to determine needs, goals and current yoga experience. During the session(s), I work with you on a series of warm-ups, poses and breathwork specifically designed to meet your needs. We discuss, modify, try new things and laugh (a lot). We also plan for how to incorporate yoga into your daily life.
I can conduct the private lessons in your own home, or my own home studio.
Please email me to work out the details!
CAN I ACCESS YOUR ONLINE CLASSES AT ANY TIME?
While I will upload prerecorded content with tips and tricks for specific poses, as of right now I do not plan to prerecord entire classes. I believe that yoga instruction should be individualized based on the unique needs of each student. Prerecorded classes do not allow for modification or personalization and do not foster a connection between the student and teacher.
